Week 46

Hey guys!

Well it has been a pretty good week! We found a new investigator that is interested in the church. His name is Termo. He was at church on Sunday and it seemed like he really enjoyed church. The members were really nice to make him feel welcome.

David is doing really good. He loves the church and is still reading the Book of Mormon every day. He told us that last night he was on the church's web page and he was up until 2 watching all of the videos of the church. He will be receiving the Priesthood  this Sunday. He has had his interview and everything.

It was the end of the Corpus Christi Celebration were they sell a whole bunch of candy on the street, so that was pretty sad. There was some really good brownies that they were selling. They would shoot off fireworks every night for it too. We were not able to see them though because it starts late.

Well that was my week. I hope that everyone has a great week!

Week 45

Hey!

Well it has been a really good week! We got a lot of stuff done and I ate something that I have never eaten before. To end it all off we had the baptism! It will definitely be a week that I will never forget!!!

Well most of the days we spent getting David ready for the baptism and finding other people to teach. The time sure did go by pretty fast and we had a good time doing it.

The baptism of David was a pretty experience. He got baptized at 8 in the morning, so we had to get up at 4 to start filling up the baptismal font. He arrived at like and he brought his parents too. We were pretty scared because he told us that his Mom said he could investigate the church but not be baptized. He had made his decision that he would get baptized the night before. When we saw them we were pretty scared that they were there to stop the baptism, but the went to support their son. It was cool after he was baptized he bore his testimony and his Dad started to cry. It was a really cool experience and I hope that his great example will help his parents get baptized too. We have a family home evening planned with them so I am excited to see what happens with them.

In the afternoon is when I ate the new thing. It is something common here in Cuenca.  After 4 months here it was about time. It was Guinea Pig! It is called Cuy here. It is not as bad as I thought it would be. It just tastes like any other kind of meat. It was quite the process to cook it. (about 1 hour). The member thought it was pretty funny because most gringos don't eat it I guess. She was laughing the whole time.
(I think he has been looking forward to this his whole mission...)

Looks like those Pro Start cooking classes really paid off!

We also had stake conference yesterday. It was a good conference. I really like the Temple President's wife's talk. She does not know Spanish, so she just read what was written on a paper. After,  I asked my companion if he could understand her and he said yes, just about all of it. It was cool to see that when the Lord wants his children to learn, it does not matter how well the person knows the language.

Well that was my week. It was a good one! It will be a week to remember! I hope everyone has a great week!

Week 44

Hey guys!

Well it has been a pretty good week once again. We had some good times and it looks like this next Saturday will be a good one!
David was at church again and he now has attended church 3 times. That means that this Saturday he will be baptized. I am pretty excited for his baptism! Now we need to convince him to go on a mission. It would be pretty cool if he ended up going. And I think he would like to do it so we will see.

We also had a service activity on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. We went to a part of Cuenca up in the mountains to clean up some garbage and then plant trees. It was pretty cool because the mayor of Cuenca was there to thank us. It had a really pretty view up their too. We could see all of Cuenca. It is crazy how big the city really is.

Everything else was pretty much the same. Just going around and finding people to teach and everything. We will be having a family home evening with the Perez family so I am excited for that!

Well I hope everyone has a great week!

Week 43 10 Months!

Hey!
Well it has been a pretty great week this week! Definitely one that I will always remember! It had been a tough week all the way until Friday. We did not have many people to teach and we were praying that we would find somebody that we could teach. Right after the prayer we received a reference from our zone leaders and we went to teach him. We taught him a little bit and he seemed pretty interested. And he accepted a baptismal date. Then that night I went and did some baptismal interviews for the zone leaders.
The baptisms that the Zone leaders had was very cool. It was the Carmona family. They found them like two months ago and have been teaching them. They were waiting at a store when the mom approached them and asked them what she should do. She had cancer and has 5 kids. She was scared and did not know what to do. The  zone leaders taught her a little then and the next day went to her house. They had been teaching them for a while now and this week they finally wanted to be baptized, so I went and did the interviews. At the end of the interview one of them wanted me to baptize them and so I got to do one of the baptisms. It was a very cool day.
The guy that we found that accepted a baptismal date is David. He is 18 years old and a very cool guy. His family does not believe in God but he is looking for the right church. He went to church yesterday and had went to conference so now he only needs to go to church one more time to be baptized. We will be teaching him this week and if he can get to church we will baptize him next week. We are hoping that we can teach his parents and brother this week too.
We also had a really cool lesson with Miriam yesterday. She is a little sad and does not know what to do because she does not have a job and does not know how she will pay all the bills. As we were teaching her I was thinking about a way that she could receive blessings. I was going through everything in my head and had no idea what she needed. I had the feeling we should teach about fasting. It ended up being a really good lesson and the spirit was strong.
Well there was my week. It was a really good one. It went by fast and everything is good here in the ward Tomebamba. I hope everyone has a great week!

Week 42

Well it has been another great week here in Cuenca! The week has gone by very fast and we found some more people to teach.
The best part of the week was on Friday night  we had a family home evening with the Perez family that we reactivated. We were teaching them and at the end they asked us what they needed to do to go to the temple. It was some pretty good news that they want to go to the temple and get sealed! I should be able to go with them to the temple and it should be a cool experience!
We also have been teaching a 15 year old kid Martin. He is interested and wants to get baptized, we just got to work with his mom now to get permision. We talked with her yesterday and she seemed really cool. So I think we can get permision.
We are also teaching a family. It is the Zamora family. They own a  soccer school and are pretty busy, but we have taught them a couple of times. They seem really cool and we will see if they can get to church this next week.
We also got to move our zone leaders house today. Just about all day has been moving there stuff to our house because they are going to be living with us now. It is pretty crazy with 6 of us in the house, but it is pretty fun aswell.  Well that is it for this week it has been a fun week. I hope everyone will have a good week!

Week 41

Hey!
Well it was a pretty busy week here in the ward Tomebamba. We had a couple of activities which turned out very well. I had a lot of fun and  some more less active people came to church, so that was nice!

Well the first activity was a family home evening with 2 of the families in the ward. It was a lot of fun. We gave a short message then played some games and after had some chocolate cake. The cake was really good. They brought a family of investigators that were actually really cool. They wanted to go to church on Sunday. The only problem is that they live in the sector of a different ward. So we passed their direccion to the other missionaries.
The second was a homecoming of an elder in the ward. It was pretty cool to see all the members in the ward and stake there to see him. They called it a family home evening but there was a lot of people there. There were 3 giant cakes there, but we had to leave before they ate it.
The third was on Saturday. We had an activity for Mothers Day. All the moms sat and listened to music  as the kids and dads made some food for them. It was a pretty good activity and everyone had quite a bit of fun.

Sunday was a great day aswell! We had a good day at church, ate some fried chicken and fries and then I got to talk to the family! It was a good day haha.

Well there was my week! It was a good one! I feel like all these activities really helped the ward and helped us relax and have some fun! I hope that everyone has a great week!

Week 40

Hey!
It has been a pretty good week!  We ate some pretty good food and found some pretty cool people to teach! It seems like this week went by super fast- I blinked and it was gone! Here are some of the people that we met this week.

The Palacios family. The dad is from Peru and they have plans to get married in like 7 days now. They have 2 daughters 9 and 7 years old and a 3 year old boy. They are a cool family and hopefully they can get married so they can be baptized.

Betty. She lives with her parents but has a couple of kids. She is divorced from her               Husband. My companion taught them when he was here before and said they are                 pretty cool and are pretty interested.

The best of all of our investigators is a guy named Cristian. We found him after church yesterday and  he really wants to listen to our message. We did not have a lot of time to talk to him but have an appointment with him tomorrow at 8.
Another less active family went to church this week too. We were pretty excited about          that. We were working with them for like 8 weeks and they would never go but                      yesterday they finally came back!

Please keep them all in your prayers.
Well that was my week it was a fast one and it went by pretty fast! I hope everyone has a great week!
